Graduation projects

The graduation project at Afeka is a key component of the academic requirements for receiving an undergraduate degree in engineering. The project prepares students for their transition from academia to industry. The graduation project at Afeka is a key component of the academic requirements for receiving an undergraduate degree in engineering. The project prepares students for their transition from academia to industry. It is accompanied by a professional advisor who is a departmental project manager, and the students are also given access to engineering resources such as labs, 3D printers, development kits, professional literature, and more.

Afeka places great importance and devotes significant resources to each student’s graduation project. The project is an excellent opportunity for students to gain experience and to develop independent work and teamwork skills, during their studies, with guidance from a professional advisor, as well as all the knowledge and resources offered by Afeka’s supportive academic environment.

To complete the project, students are required to use all of the knowledge and tools they’ve acquired during their studies, in addition to independently-acquired knowledge – and to put all of that knowledge into practical application. The project simulates the work of an engineer and the development of a new product at a business organization. It provides students with skills and proficiencies that will later serve them when competing for real-world positions, in some cases even giving them an advantage over candidates who did not have the benefit of this experience.

Over 30% of projects submitted by Afeka students originate in the industry, which seeks solutions for various developments, with some of the projects even being implemented in the industry. Afeka’s project pool includes a broad range of projects from multiple sources – many of them multidisciplinary projects that call for setting up work teams and collaborating with students from multiple academic departments.

The graduation project that starts in the sixth academic semester (the second semester of the third year) takes four months, and along with students’ grade sheet, serves them as a “calling card” when contacting potential industry employers.
